New wildlife specialist joins the University of Florida

Ms. Ober received a Ph.D. in Forest Science & Wildlife Science from Oregon State University,  a M.S. in Wildlife Science from the University of Arizona, and a B.S. in Biology from Duke University.  Her appointment will be 40% Research and 60% Extension.   Regarding her new position, Holly said, "The primary focus of my program is promoting understanding of the ecology of wildlife in forests, with the goal of ensuring successful restoration and management efforts for wildlife in forested ecosystems.  Extension activities include generating and disseminating information about wildlife habitat management to private forest landowners, public forest land managers, scientists, and extension personnel.  Research interests include the influence of forest management activities on wildlife at various spatial scales, the influence of wildlife on forest vegetation dynamics, the response of native versus exotic species to the reintroduction of disturbance regimes in degraded ecosystems, and enhancing habitat for various wildlife species in forests managed for timber production with minimal conflict of interest."
