Mississippi State University Extension Forester retires
Friends and Extension Family,
This note is to let each of you know that I will take advantage of the USDA early out option and retire from my Extension Forester position effective June 30, 2006.
I have had a heart for Extension and have enjoyed the work helping you serve Mississippi's forest landowners since 1982. I have authored the Mississippi Timber Price Report since 1986, taught short courses, consulted with your landowners, traveled abroad to promote our forest products, worked in forest-based economic development to bring Mississippi new industry and supported 4-H Forestry. It has been a rewarding job but now it's time to move on to other challenges.
I want each of you to know that you have been a special part of my life and I hope that our work together will continue.
I will stay in Starkville and assume a position as "Timberland Investment Specialist" affilliated with the Century 21 organization. If you or your clients have questions about forest land or need forestry help please feel free to contact me at 662-323-9292 or at bob@century21starkville.com.
Whatever happens, know that you are a huge help to your forest landowners and though Extension agents are undervalued - even within MSU - know that I value you and all the strong contributions you make to economic prosperity and good living in your counties. This is especially true in the wake of Katrina.
Best regards and I hope we can work together again in the future.
