Dr. Fransisco Escobedo joins University of Florida Extension as Urban and Community Extension Forester

Dr. Escobedo recently joined the University of Florida's School of Forest Resources and Conservation as an Extension Forester.

Originally from El Paso, Texas, Dr. Escobedo received his PhD in Forest Resources Management (Urban Forest Policy-Management) from the State University of New York - ESF.  He also received training in Wastershed Management (MS from the University of Arizona) and a BS in Agriculture from New Mexico State University.  Dr. Escobedo has experience working in the urban interface in both Colorado and Southern California.  Previous to that he worked at the USDA Forest Service Northeastern Research Station in NY in urban forest research and the Urban Forest Effects (UFORE) Model. 

 

His research, extension and teaching work at the University of Florida will focus on the environmental and socioeconomic services of urban forest cover to communities and mitigating the effects of urbanization and other disturbances to urban interface forests.
