Responsibilities:  Initial appointment is approximately 70% research, 30% teaching.  The successful candidate will be expected to develop an externally funded and nationally recognized research program to investigate forestry and natural resource policy options and provide policy guidance that will help sustain the long-term value of forests in Kentucky and beyond. Indications of a successful research program include extramural funding, publication in appropriate peer-reviewed outlets, and recruitment and training of graduate students. In teaching, the successful candidate will be involved in: developing and teaching two policy-related courses for undergraduates in forestry, natural resources conservation and management (NRCM), sustainable agriculture and other environmental science related fields; and recruiting and advising undergraduate students in both forestry and NRCM majors, with emphasis on student numbers as well as student quality and diversity. Departmental support will be provided in a collaborative research and teaching environment.

Rank and Salary:  Assistant Professor (tenure-track), full-time, 12 month appointment. Salary is negotiable and commensurate with qualifications and experience.

The Department of Forestry: The Department of Forestry is one of 11 academic units within the College of Agriculture. Departmental activities include undergraduate instruction in forestry and natural resources, graduate instruction in forestry, and research and extension programs in a wide variety of areas. Intra- and interdepartmental collaboration is encouraged. The department maintains a 10,000 acre forest that is an important asset for teaching, research, and extension programs.
