Department Head and Professor, Department of Forest Engineering, Resources and Management

Department Head and Professor, Department of Forest Engineering, Resources and Management (FERM), College of Forestry, Oregon State University. This is a full time (1.0 FTE), 12-month tenured administrator position. This appointment includes tenure on a 12-month basis as Professor at 1.0 FTE. We seek a visionary, outcomes oriented leader, and skilled administrator to help us shape the culture and future of the new FERM Department. She or he will provide leadership in research, teaching, and extended education; administer the personnel, financial and physical resources of the Department; coordinate planning and curricula development, oversee faculty and staff recruitment, assist the Dean with Departmental and College fundraising; and represent the Department to stakeholders and donors. Requirements include: PhD with exemplary record of nationally known professional work which merits appointment as a tenured, full professor; excellent communication, interpersonal, and organizational skills; strong administrative skills with experience in areas such as personnel management, budget management and fund-raising; professional forest resources experience in science, education, management, policy, or other relevant arena; demonstrated commitment to promoting and enhancing diversity; understanding of and commitment to the research, teaching, and extended education functions of a Land Grant University. Preferred qualifications include: broad perspective arising from wide experience, including international or other geographically/culturally diverse experiences; commitment to and experience in collaborative, interdisciplinary research; demonstrated understanding of and experience with competitive grant-funding environment; and international reputation for scholarly achievement.
