Qualifications: A Ph.D. in Urban Wildlife or closely related fields. Applicant should demonstrate significant interest, experience, and expertise in the field of wildlife management with emphasis on the urban forest systems of the United States. The demonstrated ability to conduct research: to design studies, analyze and interpret data, publish manuscripts in professional journals, and transfer information to users is needed. This position requires a strong commitment to graduate Ph.D. level education, teaching, and interacting with students. Strong communication skills are needed for the successful candidate.
Responsibilities: The successful candidate will be expected to teach, conduct research, and assist in the Program’s overall mission.
1. Course responsibilities will include courses in urban wildlife and wildlife management.
2. Develop a focused research program, seek and secure external funding, participate in outreach activities, and work with urban forestry clients in the region as well as in cooperation with existing and future faculty.
3. Advise graduate and undergraduate students.
4. Serve on School, College, and University committees appropriate to interests and responsibilities.
General Information: The Urban Forestry Program at Southern University and A&M College is the first urban forestry B.S. degree granting program in the nation. The Program offers Bachelor’s of Science degree. M.S. and Ph.D. degrees in Urban Forestry.
