Cooperate with MSU Extension agents and specialists, and University system faculty, and natural resources agencies and associations. 8. Assure compliance with civil rights and affirmative action policies. 9. Comply with all Extension federal, state, university and grant reporting requirements. Required Qualifications: 1) Bachelor’s Degree in Forestry or closely related field. 2) Demonstrated ability to work cooperatively with a wide range of interests and constituents. 3) Experience developing and conducting educational programs. 4) Demonstrated ability in using computer platforms with general word processing, graphic design and database applications. Preferred Qualifications: 1) Master’s Degree. 2) Grant writing experience. 3) Experience and/or training in team-teaching. 4) Experience and/or training in management and/or supervision.

Profile: Montana has a forest resource of 22.4 million acres.  An estimated 80,000 non-industrial (family) forest landowners own 3.5 million acres of this land.  The Montana Forest Stewardship Program is in its fifteenth year of providing educational workshops which assist landowners in learning about the natural resources on their property.  This is accomplished through a series of three-day workshops that include classroom education, inventorying the landowner’s natural resources and developing a forest stewardship plan for the landowner’s property.

 

General Information: The Forest Stewardship Program is a part of the MSU Extension Forestry Department, which is housed in the College of Forestry and Conservation at the University of Montana, Missoula, Montana.  The FSP Coordinator is administratively responsible to the Extension Forestry Specialist.  The FSP Coordinator is a full-time professional position with the Montana State University.  This position is grant-funded through June 30, 2005, with annual renewal expected.  Overnight travel to different locations within Montana may be required.
