General Information: The Forest Stewardship Program is a part of the MSU Extension Forestry Department, which is housed in the
Position Duties:
1. Provide overall leadership and management for the forest landowner planning workshop curriculum.
2. Plan, staff, facilitate and instruct forest stewardship workshops.
3. Identify, hire, train and supervise stewardship workshop advisors.
4. Develop, enhance and/or modify curricula as needed.
5. Work with multi-constituent Forest Stewardship advisory board and Department of Natural Resources and Conservation representatives.
6. Develop and manage annual budget.
7. Cooperate with MSU Extension agents and specialists, and University system faculty, and natural resources agencies and associations.
8. Assure compliance with civil rights and affirmative action policies.
9. Comply with all Extension federal, state, university and grant reporting requirements.
Required Qualifications:
1) Bachelor’s Degree in Forestry or closely related field.
2) Demonstrated ability to work cooperatively with a wide range of interests and constituents.
3) Experience developing and conducting educational programs.
4) Demonstrated ability in using computer platforms with general word processing, graphic design and database applications.
Preferred Qualifications:
1) Master’s Degree.
2) Grant writing experience.
3) Experience and/or training in team-teaching.
4) Experience and/or training in management and/or supervision.
The successful candidate will possess excellent human relations skills; evidence of good judgment; flexibility and innovativeness in order to respond to the changing needs of clientele and the ability to communicate effectively, both verbally and in writing. The successful candidate will also have a familiarity with multi-cultural and different socioeconomic audiences, an interest in working with people from diverse backgrounds, and a commitment to the principles of diversity.
Conditions and Benefits: This position will be a State appointment, which includes Social Security, Workers' Compensation, and Unemployment Compensation benefits, participation in TIAA-CREF or Montana Teachers’ Retirement, and coverage for health and life insurance.
