Around 60 Extension professionals gathered October 10-11, 2017 in Cheaha State Park for the 2017 Southern Extension Forestry and Natural Resources Advance Organized by the office of Southern Regional Extension Forestry.

Upcoming Meetings & Conferences for Extension Professionals Working on Wildland Fire Programming

In August, 2017, SREF staff traveled to two important meetings: the Annual Regional Program Leadership Network meeting in Fort Worth, Texas and a National Forest Tax Experts summit in Washington, DC. Both meetings provided an excellent opportunity for SREF to engage with its partners ,and to opened up possibilities for new collaborations.

Foresters & Extension Agents from Multiple States Aid Those in Path of Tropical Storm/Hurricane Harvey

Tropical Storm/Hurricane Harvey cut across Texas, Louisiana, and Mississippi this week. Our thoughts are with those afflicted by the devastation, but we are proud of the response we've seen from our Extension and forestry colleagues. We've gathered some links to illustrate the strength of that response and provided some some Extension resources to help forest landowners care for their land and trees in the storm's aftermath.

Assessing the Impact of Urban and Community Forestry Grants
SREF/UGA Warnell Extension Forest Health Program Collaborates on Training Workshops for Professionals in 3 States

This summer, Dr. David Coyle, Coordinator of the SREF Forest Health and Invasive Species Outreach and Education Program (FHIS) ( helped organize and participated in 4 workshops on forest health threats and management for forestry and natural resource professionals in 3 states. These workshops included classwork and fieldwork and represented a collaboration between FHIS, SREF, and other Extension programs and state partners.

2016 Southern Regional Extension Forestry Annual Report Highlights Achievement through Partnership & Collaboration

The 2016 Southern Regional Extension Forestry Annual Report offers a snapshot of the collaborative projects that the SREF office worked on with the 13 Southern Land-grant Universities and other key partners during the year. The breadth and scope of projects, programming areas, and project impact numbers demonstrate the impressive reach and efficacy of the southeastern natural resource and forestry Extension community.
