ASHEVILLE, NC - The Eastern Forest Environmental Threat Assessment Center (EFETAC) released today a new interactive website that offers consolidated information on a variety of threats facing forest land. The website, located at www.forestthreats.org provides information for landowners, researchers, land managers and policy makers on topics such as invasive species, diseases, wildland fire, loss of open space, and severe weather.

A preliminary program agenda is now available online for CNREP 2007: The 2nd National Forum on Socioeconomic Research in Coastal Systems. The draft program currently includes 87 oral and poster presentations from natural resource economists, resource managers, and policy professionals from 16 U.S. states and 9 countries. The conference will highlight the status and challenges of socioeconomic research in coastal systems, with a particular emphasis on the survival, resiliency, and/or relocation of communities in Louisiana's rapidly-deteriorating coastal zone. GREELEY, CO - Today Chairman Bob Goodlatte announced the launch of a web-based farm bill feedback form on the House Committee on Agriculture website. The announcement was made at a farm bill field hearing in Greeley, Colorado early this morning. The web-based form allows producers throughout the nation to provide the Committee with feedback about current farm policy as well as input about the future of farm policy.

The North American Association for Environmental Education invites you to submit a proposal to present a session, roundtable, poster, or workshop at our upcoming conference in Virginia Beach, November 14-17, 2007. The conference is an excellent opportunity to share ideas with agency, university, community, and school-based environmental educators. Sessions on program evaluation, research findings, marine issues, technology, and service learning will be particularly strong this year.

They are basing this grant program on Richard Louvs book"Last Child in the Woods- Saving our Children from Nature-Deficit Disorder"If you or anyone you know are interested, please contact any NationalForest Service representative.This proposal call has a short deadline of March 16. The proposal needsto be developed in partnership with a National Forest Servicecontact/partner.

The North Carolina Agromedicine Institute (NCAI) is seeking proposals from principal investigators whose research can improve the occupational safety and health of farmers, farm workers, fishermen, and/or foresters and their families. Interested investigators are invited to submit an abstract of no more than two pages describing the project idea, timeline and estimated budget. Abstracts will be screened for their scientific merit and suitability for NCAI and NIOSH by a review team composed of scientists, agricultural safety specialists, and public health professionals. At least 15 projects will be selected and asked to submit a pre-proposal and budget justification.
