Dr. David Moorhead Honored as FLA's Extension Forester of the Year 2018
SREF friend and colleague, Dr. David Moorhead, was honored as the Forest Landowner Association's (FLA) 2018 Extension Forester of the Year at FLA's National Conference of Private Forest Landowners.

Greensboro, GA - On June 28, 2018, the Forest Landowner Association honored Dr. David Moorhead with its Extension Forester of the Year Award for 2018 at that organization's National Conference of Private Forest Landowners. We would like to offer a hearty congratulations to Dr. Moorhead on the award and all he has accomplished throughout his long and distinguished career!
Dr. Moorhead has served as a state forestry Extension specialist and Professor of Silviculture at the University of Georgia for more than 34 years. He serves as the Warnell School of Forestry and Natural Resources’ Co-Director of the Center for Invasive Species and Ecosystem Health. Dr. Moorhead provides statewide and regional service/outreach programs for county extension agents, private landowners, foresters and natural resource managers on silviculture, forest vegetation management, invasive species and forest health issues, forest regeneration, prescribed fire and forest management.
Dr. Moorhead is involved in extensive program development in the area of invasive species awareness and management and conducts workshops across the South on invasive plant pathways of spread in forested/natural ecosystems, management and control techniques. He is the recipient of the University of Georgia’s 2016 Walter Barnard Hill Distinguished Achievement Award in Public Service and Outreach and is the 2017 recipient of the Society of American Foresters Technology Transfer Award.
