The Fall Forestry and Wildlife Field Tours, hosted by Virginia Tech's College of Natural Resources, seek to inform participants about practical forest and wildlife management techniques currently being used in their areas. The tours also share information on current cost-share programs, and serve as a great opportunity for networking with other landowners and natural resource professionals.
The Pittsylvania County tour will visit Banister Bend Farms, focusing on wetland mitigation banking and wildlife management; tour the rural high-production Gregory Lumber Co. Sawmill; and conclude at the Institute for Advanced Learning and Research to learn about their work in biomass and plant propagation.
Participants are asked to meet at 8:00 am at:
19783 U.S. Hwy. 29 S. Chatham, VA 24531
The tour includes lunch and refreshments, and special options are available upon request for those with particular dietary needs.
Registration: Those interested may register online here, or by mail. A mail-in registration form and specific tour details for each site can be found in this brochure. Please register by October 5th.
