The Southern Woodland Owners Conference and Solutions Fair is a three day event consisting of tours, workshops, speeches, and panels concerned with private timberland owners' issues. This year's conference is to be held at the UGA Tifton Campus Conference Center.

The first conference day offers two optional field trips: one to Oakridge Farms in Sumner, GA (2-7pm, $45 additional charge per person) and the second to Norbord OSB Plant in Cordele, GA  (2-5pm, $20). Attendance for both trips is limited. 

The second day and official start of the conference begins with refreshments and an opening session including a keynote address from Honorable Harris Sherman, Under Secretary for Natural Resources and
Environment for the U.S. Department of Agriculture. The morning continues with a general session and a second keynote at lunch from Dave Tenny, President of the National Alliance of Forest Owners. The afternoon consists of two breakout sessions of two concurrent workshops each. After dinner, Forestry "Night School" begins, in which multiple roundtables answer questions bridging a variety of woodland ownership topics.

The third and final conference day opens with a breakfast panel discussion of private landowners, followed by a break and provided time for expo visits. The rest of the day consists of three breakout sessions, with a keynote at lunch by Dr. Brooks Mendell, President of Forisk Consulting of Athens, GA. The conference concludes at 3:30 and adjourns by 3:45 in the afternoon.

 

Registration: Fees for the conference include admittance to both days of conference sessions, three meals, evening hospitality and access to leading forestry and timber industry professionals. The pre-conference tours are priced separately as indicated. Full conference participation awards up to 9 CFE credits and 10 CLE credits.

Written cancellations must be made by October 14, 2011. A processing and handling fee of $25 will be assessed on all refunds. After October 14, 2011 no refunds will be issued.
