University of Missouri Extension field specialists provide collaborative leadership and subject-matter expertise to develop, deliver and evaluate educational programs focused on improving lives, communities and economies. Field specialists provide educational opportunities that enable businesses, farms, families and communities to strengthen the economy and enhance quality of life. Additionally, field specialists create partnerships with civic and business organizations, educational institutions, local leaders and key stakeholders to identify priorities, increase financial and in-kind resources, and determine how research-based education can best meet the needs of residents.

This is a 12-month academic position located at the Missouri University of Science and Technology in Rolla, Missouri.


ESSENTIAL DUTIES:

§  Develop, deliver and evaluate educational programs. Work with constituents and colleagues to meet program goals. Develop and provide high-quality educational programs for the community. Foster diversity and inclusiveness. Participate in interdisciplinary teams, committees and task forces. Collect qualitative and quantitative data to evaluate impact of programs and services.

§  Assist with the instruction of the Missouri Forest Products Association’s Logging School in Wappapello, Missouri.

§  Provide administrative and organizational leadership. Generate and manage revenue to sustain and grow essential programs. Develop and maintain partnerships. Market and promote educational offerings and the mission of MU Extension.

§  Fulfill professional expectations. Remain up-to-date on trends and subject-matter knowledge. Actively participate in professional development opportunities. Demonstrate mastery of core competencies. Regularly travel in and out of state, using own transportation. Work evenings and weekends is often required to meet the needs of learners and constituents.

 

Qualifications

B.S. in Forestry and M.S. in Forestry or closely allied field of study. Background in harvesting and wood products highly desired. Experience delivering Extension-based programs preferred, but not mandatory.
