Adobe Releases a More User-friendly eLearning Software Allowing You to Reach More Clientele

Southern Regional Extension Forestry is dabbling in instructional technology and design as a means of creating professional development opportunities that will reach more foresters and natural resource professionals across the South. This article takes a deeper look at Adobe's new Captivate 6!

With training and travel budgets still at an all time low, we here at the office of the Southern Regional Extension Forester are constantly looking for new and creative ways to not only reach our own clients, but also to help you reach yours.  Adobe Captivate 6 is one way to do just that!  So what is Adobe Captivate 6, you ask?  Well, it is software by Adobe that allows you to quickly and easily develop interactive eLearning (electronic learning) and HTML5-based mLearning (mobile learning) experiences.  These courses are easily accessible anytime, anywhere and by almost any device!  So, how does it work?  You can import existing content via Microsoft PowerPoint slides or develop new content directly in Adobe Captivate.  Through Captivate’s user-friendly interface, you can then add animation, multi-media, interactive elements, audio and quizzes.   Adobe Captivate also allows you to produce high-definition screen-casts, if for example, you wanted to create educational tutorials on GIS or other natural resources software programs.  Finally, Adobe Captivate is SCORM compliant, which means that Captivate-powered courses fit effortlessly into industry standard Learning Management Systems like Moodle, Blackboard, Desire2Learn, Canvas and others.
