— filed under:

You are invited to submit papers for presentation and/or posters for display at the upcoming 2008 Southern Forest Economics Workers (SOFEW) Annual Meeting in Savannah, GA, March 9-11, 2008. The meeting theme is “Forestland Ownership Change in the South: Implications for Management, Production, and Conservation.” This will be an excellent opportunity to hear about the latest forest economics research on issues relevant for southern forestry, with focus on discussing how the rapid and massive ownership changes will impact reforestation, management, wood cost and availability, supply chain logistics, fire protection, and conservation. The meeting will be hosted by the University of Georgia’s Center for Forest Business.

The deadline for abstract submissions is January 21, 2008. Acceptance notices will be sent electronically to submitting authors by January 31, 2008. Contributors whose abstracts are not selected as paper presentations will be invited to prepare posters for display. Submissions addressing the forestland ownership change will be given priority; however, other relevant forest economics topics will be considered. Reports on completed studies as well as research in progress are welcomed. Abstracts must be submitted electronically to Jacek Siry at: jsiry@warnell.uga.edu
