Call for Papers for the 31st Southern Forest Tree Improvement Conference

The 2011 Southern Forest Tree Improvement Conference will be held at the Imperial Palace Resort & Spa, Biloxi, MS on June 13-16, 2011.

To present a paper or a poster, you must submit an abstract by April 15, 2011.  Participants invited to present papers or posters will be notified by April 29, 2011 of the date and time of their presentation.  You can submit your abstract online.

Topics:

Plenary and General Sessions

  • Opportunities and Challenges for Forest Trees in Emerging Biofuels and Bioproducts Industry
  • Improving Forest Trees for a Sustainable Economy
  • Genomics and Biotechnology in Tree Improvement
  • Building a New Legacy in Tree Improvement

Contributed papers and posters will be accepted in any of the following areas:

  • Biofuels and Bioproducts
  • Carbon Allocation, Sequestration, and Turnover
  • Pine Tree Improvement Hardwood Tree Improvement
  • Disease and Insect Resistance
  • Diversity, Conservation, and Restoration
  • Molecular Genetics, Genomics, and Biotechnology
  • Clonal Testing and Propagule Production
  • Coping with Shrinking Land Base
  • Breeding, Testing, and Selections

 

Speaker information:  On June 12 or June 13, bring your presentation to the registration desk on a flash drive or CD. We will load it on the conference computer and return your CD or flash drive to you immediately. Please name your presentation in the following format: last name_daypresenting_time presenting, as in miller_weds_1015.

Oral and poster presenter information: Please bring an electronic copy of your paper submission to the registration desk. Papers should be formatted as described in the guidelines for full-length manuscripts or extended abstracts. Please include your last name in the filename used for your paper.  Your poster should measure 3 feet x 4 feet (91 x 122 cm). We will provide the material to attach the poster to the board.
