Department of Forestry at Oklahoma State now the Department of Natural Resource Ecology and Management

Stillwater, OK. The Oklahoma State Regents approved the formation of this new department located at Oklahoma State university.

A task force, composed of faculty from DASNR (chaired by Dr. Fred Guthery) and A&S, as well as contributions from many other individuals and administrators, ensured that this new unit will meet the natural resource needs of Oklahomas teaching, research and extension programs.  Dr. Tom Hennessey will serve as the Interim Department Head. Appropriate faculty, staff and students from Plant and Soil Sciences, Forestry and Zoology will form the core of the new unit. These faculty will focus on natural issues involving rangelands, wildlife, forests and fisheries. Other faculty will collaborate, in an interdisciplinary manner, from many other Departments and Units across DASNR and the University.
