Dr. Adam Maggard Joins Alabama Extension Forestry Faculty
Dr. Adam Maggard
On January 4, 2017, the School of Forestry and Wildlife Sciences at Auburn University welcomed Dr. Adam Maggard as an Assistant Professor and Extension Specialist in Forest Systems Management with 75% Extension and 25% Teaching appointment. In his new position, Dr. Maggard will concentrate on teaching and promoting the benefits of multiple use management and sustainability and will create and deliver educational Extension programs for professionals and landowners that focus on the financial and economic aspects of forest management. His other interests include business planning and management for timber and nontimber forest products, the ecological, economical, and social aspects of pine plantation management, the productivity of managed forest stands, the management of forest ecosystems for wildlife habitat, the conservation and restoration of natural pine stands, and the effects of extreme weather and environmental impacts on forest management practices
Dr. Maggard earned his Ph.D from Oklahoma State University in Natural Resource Ecology and Management with an emphasis on forest resources, an M.S.M. in Business Administration from the University of Florida, and a B.A. in Forest Resources also from UF. The office of Southern Regional Extension Forestry wishes Dr. Maggard a warm welcome and looks forward to collaborating with him!
