Dwayne Elmore Fills the Extension Wildlife Position at Oklahoma State University
The Forestry Department of Oklahoma State University recently hired Dr. Dwayne Elmore to serve as Extension Wildlife Specialist for Oklahoma.
In this position, Dr. Elmore will be responsible for both extension and research activities related to wildlife management for landowners, with an emphasis increasing local rural economic stability and maintaining rural lifestyles. A native of Tennessee, Dr. Elmore grew up in a rural environment where he developed a strong interest in working with landowners to enhance wildlife habitat and to manage wildlife damage. His B.S. degree in Natural Resources was completed at the University of Tennessee at Martin. He then attended Mississippi State University and completed an M.S. in Wildlife Ecology. Most recently he was at Utah State University completing a Ph.D. in Wildlife Biology. At Utah State, his activities had a strong extension focus and dealt with endangered species’ management on private lands and control of wildlife damage.
