Fire Director Named for USDA Forest Service Southern Region
A seasoned professional of the USDA Forest Service has been selected as the Director of the Fire and Aviation Unit for the Southern Region.

Our forests, State Foresters, and cooperating agencies will benefit from Janet’s experience, expertise and dedication.”Anderson has served in several key leadership capacities in the National Headquarters over the past five years, including Assistant Director for Fire Ecology, with responsibility for leadership of hazardous fuel management, air quality and smoke management, as well as state and volunteer fire assistance programs. Anderson earned a degree in forest management from Washington State University, and began her career with the Forest Service in 1973. Since that time, she has worked in the Northern, Pacific Northwest and Eastern Regions as well as in the National Headquarters. Anderson has spent her career working in silviculture and fire management, and served as a District Ranger on two ranger districts. She succeeds Marc G. Rounsaville who was recently promoted to Deputy Director of Fire and Aviation Management in the National Headquarters.')
