Forestry Research Advisory Council Members Appointed

USDA appointed nine new members to the Forestry Research Advisory Council (FRAC) to serve three-year terms. FRAC advises the Secretary on USDA forestry research programs. Nominations are reviewed by CSREES and the Forest Service. New members and affiliations follow.

Federal and state agencies: Bov Eav, Associate Deputy Chief for Research and Development, USDA Forest Service; William Crasper, State Forester, Wyoming;

Forestry industry: Gregory Johnson, Director of Research, Weyerhaeuser Corporation; Masood Akhtar, CEO, BioPulping International, Inc.; Catherine Mater, President, Mater Engineering, Ltd.;

Forestry schools and state agriculture experiment stations: Joseph McNeel, Director, Division of Forestry, West Virginia University; Patricia Layton, Professor and Chair, Department of Forestry and Natural Resources, Clemson University;

Volunteer public groups: John Wiens, Chief Scientist, The Nature Conservancy; Scott Jones, Executive Vice President, Forest Landowners Association.
