SUBJECT: It’s Time

I often asked people who have retired what brought them to that decision. Consistently, the answer was “You will know when it’s time.”  Well, it’s time.

Today I met with Governor Warner and notified him of my retirement effective October 1, 2004

I can honestly say it been a wonderful trip. In 46 years, there has been more success than failure, more friends than enemies (I hope), more sun than rain and more smiles than tears.

There is a lot I could or should say but maybe later. Just wanted you to know my plans and wish everyone the very best – you are the finest people in the world and it has been an honor to be a part of DOF.
