Mississippi State University Hires New Extension Forester

James E. Henderson started his new position as Assistant Extension Professor of Forest Economics and Management in December 2007.

James recently completed his Ph.D. in Agricultural Economics at Louisiana State University under the direction of Dr. Michael A. Dunn, where he specialized in Natural Resource Economics. This is his not his first experience with Mississippi State University. In 2003 and 2004 he completed Master’s degrees in Business Administration and in Forestry, respectively. He also studied forestry as an undergraduate at Louisiana Tech University where he completed his B.S.F. in 2001. Prior to his academic career James worked in the forest products industry in both Louisiana and Texas for Hunt Lumber Company, Louisiana Pacific, and Anthony Timber Lands. James’ primary responsibility at Mississippi State University will be to lead the Forestry Department’s state wide forestry extension education program in forest economics and management.
