New National Program Leader for Forest-Based Bioenergy
The Natural Resources and Environment Unit introduces Daniel Cassidy as the Forest-Based Bioenergy National Program Leader.
Daniel has been the program specialist for the NRE Unit focusing on forestry, rangelands, and grasslands ecosystem services and supporting the Renewable Resources Extension Act and McIntire-Stennis programs. Previous to joining CSREES in 2006, he served in a Post-Doctoral Research and Extension position at the University of Georgia assisting the management of the “Sustainable Forestry for Bioenergy and Biobased Products” program with the Southern Forest Research Partnership, the Southern Regional Extension Forester, and other university partners. Daniel is a recent graduate of the USDA’s Executive Leadership Program and has served a detail with the US Forest Service as the Deputy Team Leader for Woody Biomass Utilization. He received his doctorate in natural resources and master’s in forestry from the University of Tennessee and his bachelors’ of science in forestry from Mississippi State University.
