Pallet Phytosanitation

Pallet Phytosanitation

A New Web Site Titled Pallet Phytosanitation - Information for International Trade Has Recently Been Launched.

This project was supported by funds provided by the U.S. Department of Agriculture, Forest Service, Wood Education Resource Center, and the Limestone Bluffs RC&D, Inc.   In this educational website you will find technical information and new technologies for manufacturers and others involved in manufacturing wood packaging for international shipments. It also provides projects focused on showcasing existing technologies to wood packaging manufacturers and others dealing with phytosanitary compliance issues.   The main focus is to highlight and summarize research previously funded by Limestone Bluffs RC&D regarding wood packing phytosanitation.

This website provides streaming video and technical papers in pdf format that summarize various research projects as well as personal interviews with pallet manufacturers and an inspector regarding wood pallet phytosanitation issues.   The site allows individuals to submit questions that will be sent to the web masters Todd Shupe (tshupe@agctr.lsu.edu) and Ramsay Smith (wsmith@lsu.edu) of the Louisiana Forest Products Development Center, School of Renewable Natural Resources at the Louisiana State University AgCenter. All questions and answers will ultimately be placed on the web site.  The talks presented on the site can also be obtained via a DVD by contacting the LSU AgCenter, USDA Forest Service, or Limestone Bluffs RC&D.

The web site can be found at
