SREF staff, including Dr. Bill Hubbard, Southern Regional Extension Forester, and Dr. David Coyle, Coordinator of the Forest Health and Invasive Species Outreach and Education Program (FHIS), will be presenting at the 11th Biennial ANREP Conference April 29 - May 3, 2018 in Biloxi, Mississippi.

Monday, April 30th, 10:00-10:30 am- Onboarding, Mentoring, Oh my! What do Extension Foresters Young and Old Think that the Next Cohort Should Know? This national RREA - focus-funded project will provide an overview of a new onboarding and mentoring program created specifically for new Extension natural resource professionals.

Monday, April 30, 4-4:30 pmForest Health and Stewardship From the ground up: Building a regional forest health extension program

Monday, April 30th, 4:30-5:00 pm- Benefits of Multi-State & Regional Programming: The Case Study of the Southern Regional Extension Forestry Office. This presentation offers a glimpse into the need for, and benefits of regional and multi-state programming from the perspective of 25 years of experience.

Monday, April 30th, 5:00-5:30 pm- Wood Utilization; Pathway to Healthy Forests and Sustainable Communities.  A new website, Askforwood.com, supports educational tools and materials designed to get County Extension and other educators up-to-speed and in the game on the whys of using wood for sustainable building products, especially in local nonresidential building construction.

Tuesday, May 1st, 8:30-10 am- Fire-Resistant Landscaping: Building Homeowner & Community Resilience to Wildfires. During this hands-on workshop, participants will learn how to develop a fire-resistant landscape, or firescape.

Tuesday, May 1st, 10:30-12:00 pm- Lessons Learned from Extension’s Involvement in 4 Large USDA NIFA AFRI CAPs. During this workshop, participants will hear perspectives from Extension leads on several large, AFRI CAP Programs designed to have big impacts in bioenergy and climate change.

Tuesday, May 1st, 11:00-11:30 am- A Standard Economic Contribution Analysis Framework of Forestry and Forest Products for Extension Application.  A joint state agency-Extension Service project to provide training and tools for local county educators to promote the value and importance of forest and wood products to individuals, communities and society as a whole.

Wednesday, May 2nd, 4:30-5:30 pm- Creating Wildfire-Safe Communities through the Master Gardener Program. During this oral presentation, the speaker will present on a new USDA-NIFA funded project to develop a fire-resistant landscape training for the Master Gardener project.

Thursday, May 3rd, 8:30-10 am- Wildfire and Prescribed Fire Communities of Practice Meeting. Don't miss this post conference workshop to discuss recent and future efforts to increase Extension's role in prescribed fire and wildfire education and developing an ANREP wildland fire initiative.

Wednesday, May 2nd 4:00 pm-4:30 pm- The Climate Learning Network: A Virtual National Network of Extension Professionals
