Status, Trends and Future of the South's Forest and Agricultural Biomass Conference Announced for August

Educators, policymakers, forestry and natural resource professionals and others interested in forest and agricultural biomass issues and opportunities will want to attend the “Status, Trends, and Future of the South's Forest and Agricultural Biomass” conference on August 29-31 at the University of Georgia Center for Continuing Education in Athens.

STATUS, TRENDS, AND FUTURE OF THE SOUTHS FOREST AND AGRICULTURAL BIOMASS CONFERENCE ANNOUNCED FOR AUGUST

This conference is designed to provide an introduction to the growing arena of biomass commercialization, and utilization and to the challenges and barriers faced in the promotion of the biomass alternative fuel source. Nationally recognized speakers from government and industry will discuss system development, financial planning for new markets, state-level actions, and state organizations that are leading the way toward environmental and economical sustainability.

Forest Conservation Districts and Resource Conservation & Development Councils (RC&D), agricultural industry professionals, consultants, natural resource educators, extension specialists, landowners, investors, researchers, and conservation groups will all find the information presented valuable as they work toward making bioenergy a priority in their regions and their management alternatives. The presentations and interactive question-and-answer periods will provide ample opportunities to learn more about how this biomass approach to energy can help everyone.

Participants will receive (full attendance is mandatory to receive credit):
• 14 hours Continuing Forestry Education (CFE) credit — Category 1
• 14 hours Continuing Loggers Education (CLE) credit — Environment
• Continuing Education (CE) hours of Georgia Real Estate Appraisers credit applied for; will be accepted by the Georgia Real Estate Commission
