UGA Warnell Welcomes Two New Outreach Specialists
This year, the University of Georgia's Warnell School of Forestry and Natural Resources has welcomed two new Outreach Specialists, Drs. Mark McConnell and Elizabeth Benton. Dr. McConnell's specialty is wildlife management and Dr. Benton works primarily in the area of forest health.
We are pleased to welcome two new Outreach Specialists to the University of Georgia's Warnell School of Forestry and Natural Resources Outreach Program.
Dr. Elizabeth Benton comes to UGA after having earned her PhD in Entomology from the University of Tennessee. Dr. Benton's main focus is Forest Health with specialties in forest entomology, aquatic entomology, and environmental risk. Before coming to Georgia, Dr. Mark McConnell received his PhD from Mississippi State University in Forest Resources. As Wildlife Outreach Specialist at UGA, his primary goal will be to develop and deliver conservation solutions to the stakeholders of Georgia, focusing on integrating profitable wildlife management schemes into working landscapes. He recently worked with SREF on the webinar Introducing the Shortleaf Pine Restoration Plan, delivering a lecture on wildlife concerns in the management of shortleaf pine ecosystems and has published Precision Agriculture: Using Technology to Increase Northern Bobwhite Populations and Farm Revenue for Warnell Outreach's Wildlife Management series.
