The goal of the meeting is to bring southern Extension forest resource specialists together in order to review major issues, learn what is currently being done, and plan any needed regional projects. In addition to other regional issue discussions, a wildland fire session will be held on the afternoon of Tuesday, October 10th. The goal of the session is to explore ways to increase Extension’s role in wildland fire educational programming. More specifically, discussions will focus on (1) barriers that limit Extension’s participation in fire education (subject matter knowledge/ training and access to support resources) and (2) potential solutions to address these barriers (in-person and online training, state and regional support personnel and resources, and more). Those currently working on wildland fire programming and those interested in becoming involved are all welcome to join this discussion.
