Income Alternatives for Woodlot Owners Conference
Most woodlot owners own the land for reasons other than making money, yet property taxes are an annual burden. While timber harvesting is perhaps the most common method of generating income, many landowners pursue other ways to offset ownership costs. For this reason, we are holding the 2nd Annual, Income Alternatives for Woodlot Owners Conference. This 1.5-day conference will provide participants with a suite of options to consider for your own property according to your interests. A mixture of both classroom and field instruction, with nationally recognized speakers, will provide a forum to learn about many different aspect of forest crops and eco-tourism, such as: Ginseng production, shiitake mushroom cultivation, bee-keeping, woodland crafts and other topics such as portable sawmilling demonstration, food plots for wildlife, crop-tree management, wildflowers of the Blue Ridge, Raptors of Virginia AND MORE!Cost is $60.00 per adult if pre-registered, $35.00 for per child. Meals and conference material are included in this fee. Onsite lodging is available at the lodge for $40.00 per person, the night of the 15th. Registration is from 12:30 to 2:00 on April 15, the conference will conclude at 3:00 on Saturday, April 16. Sponsored by: Virginia Cooperative Extension, Virginia State University, and the USDA Renewable Resources Extension Act.
