Description: This one-day workshop follows up on the August 2016 Appalachian Wood Energy Innovations Conference in Asheville, NC. Great outcomes and a to-do list resulted from that conference and many of them will be covered in this workshop.
Anyone in academic, industry and forestry sectors with an interest in energy from wood. Additionally organizations, public and private, will be tapped as speakers. Networking among these participants will benefit one and all. CFE contact hours will be available for professional foresters.

Description: This webinar will cover the basics of bumble bee ecology and conservation. Participants will learn the status of North America’s nearly 50 species of bumble bees, the threats they face, and the role that important habitat features and land management play in supporting robust bumble bee communities. Participants will also learn basic identification skills as well as the resources available for a more in depth investigation.

Join Mike Kane, of the Piedmont Environmental Council, and Tom Turner, of the John Marshall Soil and Water Conservation District, for a free dinner and review of conservation successes and challenges in the watershed, including an overview of conservation programs that are available to assist landowners.
