Description: Sponsored by The Longleaf Alliance, this event is focused on the restoration and conservation of the longleaf ecosystem that once dominated the landscape in the southeastern United States. The conference provides the opportunity for people from all over the southeast to get together, share, learn, and celebrate longleaf. It also serves as a rallying spot for several other organizations and government agencies seeking to stage additional events in order to better collaborate on the conference topics.

Description: This webinar is presented by The U.S. Forest Service (USFS) in partnership with the U.S. Biochar Initiative and the Southern Regional Extension Forestry. This webinar’s guest speaker is Dr. Zalesny. He holds a Bachelor of Sciences on natural resources and environmental studies from University of Minnesota-Twin Cities, and a Ph.D. from Iowa State University on Forest Biology. Dr. Zalesny studies genetic and physiological mechanisms regulating biomass production of short rotation woody crops grown for phytotechnologies, bioenergy and fiber.

This webinar will highlight examples from North Carolina from the coastal plain to the mountains, focused on commonly managed commercial species. The presenter will identify sites that work across the state for managing different species for forestry use.
