Subject: Conference
Description: Habitat destruction, climate change and inadequate resourcing continue to diminish the extent and integrity of globally imperiled pine rocklands. This year’s theme, “Expanding the Footprint”, will focus on reversing this trend by restoration of prior converted pine rocklands. Discussing how we can not only protect, restore and effectively manage what is left, but also share what we collectively know to restore pinelands where they have been destroyed. We must effectively communicate what is at stake to mobilize public support, and thus save pine rocklands and their species from local and global extinction. Preceding the pine rockland talks, we will have a day focused on tropical plants and their interactions with other organisms, all threatened by continuing development pressure in many parts of the world. Experts in many areas will present findings on the biology as well as conservation issues facing tropical forests, exploited plants, and people.
