Description: The purpose of this meeting is to gather state agency forestry leaders from across the South in one place to share information, make decisions and enact plans of action regarding leadership in sustaining the economic, environmental and social benefits of the South’s forests, and work to identify and address existing and emerging issues and challenges that are important to southern forests and citizens.

Description: This short course will provide practical knowledge about how lumber is effectively kiln dried and scientific background on related wood properties and processes. It will have value for the beginner as well as experienced kiln operators and with supervisors, sales, and marketing personnel. Instruction, by university faculty and industry experts, will be both in the classroom and through hands-on lab exercises using our 1000 BF steam heated dry kiln

Description: We will take a tractor ride tour of the farm and hear about the latest reserach in vegetable crops. Participants will be able to engage with research scientists and learn about the newest technologies in vegetable crop production. The tour will start on the Clemson research farm. There will be a break for lunch and then a tour of the USDA fields. Pesticide Credits will be offered for attending.

Description: Florida residents and public land managers are invited to come out to the UF/IFAS Extension Bay County to learn more about invasive air potato and the air potato leaf beetle and pick up a supply of beetles for use on their properties. Preregistration is required.

Description: This one day workshop covers the important business topics needed to operate a small firewood and/or sawmill business. The format is to cover firewood and sawmill business with a combination of classroom discussions and equipment demonstrations on a firewood processor and a portable sawmill.
Topics to cover involve sourcing logs, grading logs and lumber, firewood processors, small sawmills, air and kiln drying, sawblades, business management and marketing.
