Description: he quality of hardwood timber stands varies from one tract to the next and often managers find themselves attempting management in degraded stands. Forests of this nature can be the end result of mismanagement (high-grading) or that of natural disturbance. This course is designed to provide attendees with information regarding management of this stand type. Topics covered during indoor and outdoor sessions include: management strategy for varying goals of ownership, hardwood decision models, as well as salvage and regeneration options.

Topics will include: overview and benefits of Landowner Cooperative Associations, deer management, and the history and certification process of the American Tree Farm System. The event will also include a question and answer session with a panel of experts from agencies such as the Florida Forest Service, UF/IFAS Extension, USDA Natural Resources Conservation Service, andthe Florida Fish and Wildlife Conservation Commission.
