Timber management is always part of a forest resource management plan. In order to achieve forest management objectives (whether they be timber production, wildlife habitat improvement, recreational development, or aesthetics) it is the trees that are manipulated. The components of the traditional timber management plan are still crucial elements of the modern forest resource management plan.
