Forests in Florida are rapidly changing as a result of increased urbanization and disturbance from hurricanes. Urban forest managers are expected to know: where is the forest located, what is the composition of the forest, what is the quality of the forest, and what are the impacts of urbanization and disturbance? The first step to answering these questions is to have an urban forest inventory. There are an array of new tools and software available to aid managers in answering these questions and this symposium brings together a suite of experts to share how some of these tools have been successfully deployed to help manage urban forest systems. The Urban Forest Inventory Systems Symposium is appropriate for anyone involved in urban forest management, including landscape architects, civil engineers, parks and recreation managers, municipal GIS managers, urban foresters and arborists.
