Jackson, Miss. -- Charlie W. Morgan of Canton, Mississippi, has been selected to serve as State Forester of the Mississippi Forestry Commission, a service agency providing wildfire protection and forest management assistance on private and state-owned forestland. Morgan's employment with the Forestry Commission begins June 1, 2006.

Athens, Ga. -- Michael L. Clutter, who has been associated with the University of Georgia Warnell School of Forestry and Natural Resources almost his entire life as the son of a faculty member and later as a student, researcher and professor, will become dean of the school on Aug. 15.

Keith Hawkins has joined the Louisiana Extension as an Area Extension Forester for the Southwest region.

After interviewing nearly a dozen candidates, the Louisiana Forestry Commission has selected a new state forester, Agriculture and Forestry Commissioner Mike Strain, D.V.M., announced. Wade Dubea, a New Roads native and current resident of St. Francisville, was chosen to replace former State Forester Paul Frey who retired last year.

Ricky Kilpatrick has been honored by Project Learning Tree (R) (PLT), the environmental education program of the American Forest Foundation, with a PLT Gold Star Award.

Atlanta, GA - Dr. Wang will be responsible for timber tax education to foresters,landowners, loggers and tax professionals and attorneys. She is also involved in timber tax policy studies and assessment. She has a Ph.D. degree in forest economics and a CPA certificate from Washington State.

Linda S. Casey, a recently retired longtime employee of International Paper was sworn-in as Alabama's new State Forester by Gov. Bob Riley on January 12, 2007.
